Description

Lighter and more responsive, the classic Mako shape remains!

The Mako has been in the Ocean Rodeo line-up for 17 years so they thought the time was right to revisit this classic kiteboard design.  Ok, so its not a surfboard - but its an excellent hybrid for those who want a classic twintip that can also carve up a wave like nothing else with 2 tips!

So, OR spent the last 12 months on R&D to make the Mako even better. They tried everything from adding a multiple 4-fin setups - but found the board lost its playfulness and became slower.  A new tail shape profiles was tried and tested but it gave no new benefit. Ocean Rodeo even built prototypes with tuck-shaped surf rails with a thick profile - these were also rejected!

In short, everything new they tried didn't improve on the old shape. Just one upgrade did make a positive difference - they made it lighter.  They also made the flex more “crisp”. The lowered board weight was achieved by using a new mineral-based composite instead of the classic S-glass. The new lighter Mako has a lively flex and will be enjoyed by even the most diehard Mako fans.

The Mako line-up offers freeride kitesurfing enthusiasts of all backgrounds a board suited to their riding style and size.  The rock solid wood core ensures your board will survive the tough coastal conditions that it is built to perform in.  This great board just got better. Try one and you'll be hooked.
